Good In-Good Out

So the other day I DID finally rejoin the Facebook community.  BUT I posted the following caveat as my first post.  I figured it was a good way to lay down the law from the outset and let people know where I'm at.

"Hi to my friends, family and art community-

Yes, I am back on Facebook. I have found that it is easier to stay in touch with my few friends and family this way. Also easier to keep up with the creative community that I so love.

BUT, DO NOT SEND ME the following:
NEWS
NEWS LINKS
CONTEST LINKS OR REQUESTS
ANYTHING CONTROVERSIAL
ANYTHING RACIALLY INCLINED
NEGATIVITY IN ANY FORM
ANYTHING POLITICAL
CHECK BEFORE “TAGGING” ME
I could go on, but I think you get the picture.

PLEASE DO SEND ME the following:
PICTURES OF CUTE ANIMALS
ANYTHING CRAFT OR ART RELATED
PICTURES OF NATURAL BEAUTY
BEAUTIFUL OR POSITIVE QUOTES
ANYTHING FUNNY (NOT MEAN)
NEWS ABOUT YOU OR YOUR FAMILY
OH, AND ANYTHING DISNEY
Again, I think you get the picture.

IF I DO ever want to learn anything newsy, religious or political, want to join a contest or a game I will find it and take care of it myself. I’m not interested in other peoples’ mean spirited views or rants, so DON’T include me.

So, if that suits you, by all means let’s be friends. If not, then we were not meant to be and I’ll be on my way. Sorry. Have a nice day."

Of course I still get some things that filter through from other people's news feeds, but for the most part I just delete them so I can't see them.  I don't want to "unfollow" the people (yet), but I don't want to see those things every time I open my Facebook page.

I just read a posting from one of my favorite bloggers, Lydia Fiedler (UnderstandBlue).  It was referring to her own "Happiness Test" and dealt with the same thing I am talking about here.  If you haven't checked her out, do.  She is a delight.  Funny, smart, creative and wonderful all the way around.  I wish I could clone her and have her live next door to me on both sides and across the street.
