I am embarking on a new project inspired by this gorgeous piece I saw on Pinterest. My base piece of furniture is not NEARLY as adorable as this one sadly. It has been partially stripped (apparently it used to be red), so that helps a lot! I have the paint colors picked. Both are from Sherwin Williams, they are Fundamental White (which leans a little to the creamy side) and Mint To Be (which is a lovely bluey-mint). It had some pretty raised molding on the lower doors, which someone had partially removed, so I am having to replace that (that's what I'm tackling first). I am going to put bead board (wainscoting) on the back wall (like this picture). It also has ugly hardware, which I am going to move first of all (which means filling holes and sanding and drilling new holes for all the new knobs). I think I am going to go with crystal or clear glass knobs, and will replace the hinges too. On one of the doors the glass is broken so I will have to have a new piece cut. But I'm looking forward to all this putzy work for this project and I'm hoping it will turn out at least HALF as cute as this piece.
And I already have my NEXT project picked out! Ambitious or crazy? It's based on another picture from Pinterest.
Now the piece I'm starting with is VERY similar to this one. The challenge is going to be getting a new top made as the current one is very warped. Also the drawers are going to need some major structural work. Someone along the way thought that putting fiber board PEG BOARD in for the drawer bottoms was a good idea. So that will be a major part of the fix too. But I'm looking forward to it. I'm hoping to get both projects done before summer sets in here in Florida since my work room has NO AIR CONDITIONING! YIKES!!!
I'm tired of my house looking so MASCULINE and want to add some subtly "girly" touches. My collection of cream Wedgewood china will look so pretty against the blue bead board in the new hutch! Sigh! I can hardly wait! Tomorrow it's back to work on the doors and the molding! Yay!
